I have the option to get an old PCI 604 Mac that is upgradable via PCI Card (Sonnet) to G4 450 MHZ 1Mb cache... The mac is $100, the card will be $250 plus I will need some RAM. Downside is that the mac is SCSI based, not IDE (cheap). Wondering how fast OSX will run on the G4 at this speed? Tolerable? I am assuming a 450 G4 will be faster than a higher clocked G3 (like a 700)?? Wondering if this is a good route to go ( have to be via charge card (stupid, just got paid off)) to get to X. I can use Sonnet's X installer, or XPostFacto to install, but Sonnet's requires OS 9.1 which I don't have. I have OSX 10.2 and 9.2 install CD's Robert
