I have not been able to make it work. Mayhaps you should try... Tip: Let the Connection Be Unbroken If you've ever been slapped with the "The connection to this server has been unexpectedly broken" message when you've attempted to establish contact between one Mac running Mac OS 9 and another Mac running Mac OS X, make sure that the OS 9 Mac has an IP address assigned to it. Barring that, you can access the Mac OS X Mac by entering its IP address in the Server IP Address field. There are two ways to do this. From the Chooser, select AppleShare, click the Server IP Address button, enter the IP address in the resulting window, and press Connect. Or, you can use the Network Browser -- select Connect to Server from the first pop-up menu (the one with the globe on it) and enter the IP address in the resulting window and press Connect. -- Ted Spencer -- To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily.
