Jan, Jay & Tedd all replied with a similar theme: you can't empty the 
trash of a drive that isn't there. Which makes sense, of course.

Is it just me, or is selective trash emptying something that makes a 
shred of sense? Of course, storing things in the trash isn't always the 
best idea, but those of us Of A Certain Age appreciate a second chance.

My whine came from the need to empty the trash in a non-bootable USB 
drive, and has also come up with my little 128 MB USB FLASH 
pseudo-drive. It shouldn't be necessary to burn all the bridges just to 
make these things work as required...
