    I am thinking that you could do this:


Here I am assuming that in your App's folder you would have a folder
Barrie's Help and in that folder is your BarrieHelp.pdf

dim ghelpFSSpec as fsspec
dim gAppFolderRef as Long
etc.



At startup:

gAppFolderRef=System(_aplVol)
gHelpFolderRef=Folder("Barrie's Help",gAppFolderRef)
Helperr%=fn FBMakeFSSpec(gHelpFolderRef,0,"BarrieHelp.pdf",ghelpFSSpec)


Nice to tell them ahead of time that something is amiss with their
installation:

if Helperr%<>0 then fn WarnNoHelp


Call with your help menu item:

fn OpenFileWithApplication( ghelpFSSpec )

I _think_ it will open your .pdf with Acrobat or Apple's Preview
thingy...according to how the user is set up.
