MOUSE(_down) never worked for me either.  Decided I unblessed and have gone
with FN BUTTON ever since.

Different story with "% EVENT,0 : FLUSHEVENTS".  Works sometimes, sometimes
doesn't - or so it seems.  RGB III is yet again suffering the _goAway
blues, FLUSHEVENTS or no.  One of our low-level experts must have a clue as
to what's going on and how to keep the app's window up front, or get it
back if it _goesAway:

LOCAL FN eyedropper
  DO
    eyedrop anything on the screen
    (show the results)
    % EVENT,0 : FLUSHEVENTS
  UNTIL done
END FN
