I am 46, and am a university biology professor. Learned ALGOL as a
student, then BASIC on my own. Hand-built my first computer (North Star
Horizon) in 1978; then moved to a 286 PC clone, and then was introduced to
Macs during a 1988 sabbatical year in Australia. I bought a IIcx upon
returning (it still works), wrote some data acquisition and analysis
software in QuickBasic, then ported it to FB in 1994. I currently use a G3
at home and assorted 040 and PPC 604 machines at work.
