It seemed kind of quiet here lately so I thought I'd throw this out on the
table as a question. I appologize if it's inappropriate and will understand
if the list Mom decides to yank it.

I have a number of ideas for small shareware programs. I'm not expecting to
became wealthy or dreaming of retiring early, etc., etc. but I think it
would be neat to make a few bucks from programming. I'm sure others here
have thought about it and I know some of you are doing it succesfully now.

I'm hoping to tap some of the great minds here on how to proceed. I've
searched around on the list and on the internet but I'm afraid that much of
the info out there may be quite dated and I thought it would be nice to get
all your thoughts in one place.

Here's the short question: How to get started?

Here's the longer (set of) questions.

Do I need my own website and or domain name or can I use my own ISP personal
site?

Are there cheap or free domain registrars or hosting providers that you
would recommend?

Do I need another host to provide a download portal or bandwidth?

How does one setup a Paypal account, what is the cost? (or is this a bad
idea)

Are there other (better) methods of receiving payment?

Are there places to publish (version tracker) etc. that you'd recommend (or
NOT recommend)?
