The maximum size of a resource fork is 16 MB. Perhaps you are exceeding the limit. If so, consider storing your images as separate files instead of stuffing them all into one file. Also consider saving the images in PNG format instead of PICT. PNG has very effective lossless compression for bitmap images, typically 1/4 - 1/8 the size of the corresponding PICT. Robert P.
