"1. The new power and options are amazing and due to hard work by many.
2. Please keep in mind that when choosing basic
as a language over pascal/fortran/cobal/C,C+,C++
etc. etc. the basic <pun intended> reason people
make the choice."
Dear David,
with respect to your comments I'll simply re-post
what I've contributed more recently to this list
when similar opinions showed up...

"Let's face it, most of us are far from happy
with all these changes to FB because it means the
learning of new techniques and the adaptation and
endless testing of existing code. Both is at
least time-consuming.
However, we should recognize that the reason for
this disagreeable situation isn't FutureBasic!
It is the Mac Toolbox, i.e. Apple, or generally "innovation".
(Please note that programming languages, such as
BASIC or C, in general do not provide routines
for a GraphicalUserInterface because it is
OS-specific. If an
IntegratedDeveloperEnvironment, such as
FutureBASIC, does--to a certain extent--support a
GUI, then it is necessarily dependent on the
OS...)
If you want to run your Apps under the current
OSX and perhaps even natively on an Intel-Mac,
then you simply can't use certain old Mac Toolbox
calls because Apple doesn't support them anymore.
Again, not FutureBasic has changed but the MacOS and the Mac-hardware."
