I haven't found the reference but when I was writing a paper last year
I found out that the JavaBridge is no longer in development and Apple
is no longer supporting Java development for Cocoa apps. I tried to find
the reference but I noticed when I started looking for the reference
on the Apples site that Java documentation shows up as legacy documentation.

Hi Herbie,

Two Java apps I've seen on the Mac have controls that operate like
they were developed for another operating system such as Windows. In
any case, the controls did not operate like Mac controls. I don't know
what frameworks were used to link these programs, but it clearly
wasn't AppKit/Foundation. I'm assuming it is possible to link to Cocoa
frameworks ( specifically AppKit to get the Mac UI ) and these
developers used another approach to enable their code to run on
multiple platforms from one code base.
