Sounds like you REALLY need to do regular backups onto an alternate  
drive.

Also sounds unusual. I've got 2 laptops (2 & 8 yrs old) that travel a  
lot & an older iMac with OS9; all three are still going strong and no  
problems. Love the Mac reliability!
