I am deeply grateful for the effort expended to keep FB alive. Without financial incentive for those developing FB it is logical that there is declining incentive to continue work. I do think this blunt announcement merits more explanation. FB is important in my work and I am concerned about the impact of this announcement. It would be helpful if more knowledgeable programmers on this list could help less skilled people like me with the following questions: (1) Is FB likely to be compatible with OS 10.8 without major revisions? (2) What are the transition options? Do I have to start rewriting the entire code from scratch in a new language? (3) Is there any alternative procedural language with the simplicity of Basic?
