Three cheers for Apple! Agreed. Apple has traditionally approached things from the point of view of "how can this machine make life easier & more fun for its users?" The developers of some "other" systems don't seem to be able to break out of the box of doing things in a constrained way--they seem perfectly happy to let the computer remain an arcane machine. Maybe it makes them feel special to exclude people from their priesthood of esoteric knowledge; maybe they just have no imagination. At any rate, the thing I like about Apple is that they (usually) have a long-term vision of the computer as a culture-altering and people-empowering device. I just hope that future historians will recognize the role they've played in making that a reality. - Rick
