Actually, there was a version 0.9, dating back to 1983. This was never 
released as an OS package, but it was available on the disk for Apple's 
one and only Mac game, a chess game featuring characters from "Through 
the Looking Glass."

I know I have that disk around here *somewhere*... it came in this cool 
box that looked like a book...

I forget what OS my "Fat Mac" had (purchased in early 1985), but I 
believe it was 1.something. I didn't pay much attention to OS versions 
back then.
