I the FB list FAQ it states that we may discuss pirating only in the measure that we are talking about the implementation of protection systems. I think most of us would put phreaking & cracking in the same bag as pirating - so presenting any of these activities in a favorable light (the list may be 'Adult Rated', but not all the listees) is perhaps not wise. In the States phreaking and cracking are Federal offences with heavy penalties. There is enough kudos, ego-building and general satisfaction to be attained from doing positive work that it should not be necessary to visit the _real_ dark side (and I don't mean Windows here). When I look back on my life, I'd like to remember that I knew matt before he write his killer app, not that I knew him before he got jailed :-( This is not just for matt - I have positive thoughts about _all_ on this list, even - or perhaps especially - those with whom I dispute, and wish no-one bad. We should not be seen to condone anti-social/criminal actions in front of (perhaps) impressionable youngsters. Heated argument: yes. Condoning, even encouraging: no.
