>Incompatibility with OS 8.5

I'm quickly coming to suspect a problem not with 8.5 per se, but with 
QT3...

I've had compile problems starting under 8.1, about the time I "upgraded" 
to QT3 Pro. And run-time problems since getting QT3 at all. I think. 
Naturally, I didn't note the dates of either the installation of QT, or 
when my FB problems started. <sigh> The problems are similar to what you 
describe, a hard crash at seemingly random times; most frequently when 
responding to a null event!

Still, I've had "better" luck with FB compiles by restarting with 
extensions off. I haven't yet tried eliminating one extension at a time 
as the test cycle would be prohibitively lengthy, but that (or some 
creative MacsBug use...) seems indicated. Not sure what to do about the 
problem on the runtime, though, as it's not reasonable to say "not 
compatible with xxx" especially if "xxx" is QT3.
