After reading that others have had the same problem with FB compiling, then telling me the resource file is open, I decided to write a plug-in to get around the problem. Also this might give poor David a rest instead of answering all the email about this problem. You can obtain it from: ftp://ftp.ozemail.com.au/~benjamen/Pre_Compile_Check_Tolz.sit.hqx .. or something like that. Have a dig around in the folder if this path is bad. My Tolz will check that the resource file for the currently compiling project (as defined by the RESOURCE statement) is available for read-write access BEFORE the compile takes place. It will warn you, aborts the compile, and optional switches to either Resourcer or ResEdit (or anything else you want to put the Creator code in for). Note this has not been tested very well, but it seems to work for me. I will recommend that you have at least 1meg allocated to the FB application, as a 750k partition caused some strange "Unknown constant" errors during the compile? Best of all its only about 8k Merry Christmas to all Jamin
