Oh, and one more thing. Although I think there are many saved people in
the Lutheran church I would expect that the vast majority are simply
lost. I believe what Paul was talking about may have included but not
have been limited to particular denominations.
Just another thought - the Lutheran church is, I believe, a far cry from
what Martin Luther instigated.
"Here I stand, I can not do otherwise. So help me God. Amen"!
If you haven't, read 'Here I Stand". Great book.

Dale,
I think you do well to include vs. 6. I have been preaching through
Titus and Paul keeps referring to 'sound/healthy doctrine' that is the
basis for all things. 1 Tim. 4 is certainly a passage for today. The
Evange. Lutheran Church of America just came out with a report to open
the way for those practicing homosexuality to be ordained and
'unionized'. Would you consider this a 'falling away' because of
'paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons' - i.e.
those who are still (for whatever reason) claiming the name of Christ
and yet are reviling Christ and His Gospel? I think I would.

Peace,
Steve

PS - that's 8
