More than anything, I just think it is dumb to get tattoos as most tattoos are dumb and later in life people will regret having them. I don't think Tattoos are evil in and of themselves (sound familiar :-) ). But I agree they do unnecessarily mark up the body which is the temple of the Spirit. I have never really studied the issues from a biblical standpoint. But it probably wouldn't be wise for a Christian to get them. I know a pastor who used to be a biker guy and he has tattoos from his former life. I am sure he regrets now getting them. But the ones he has (that are visible anyway) are not offensive (i.e. crude). I don't know if he has ever thought about having them removed. Depending on what they are they may not be removable. I wouldn't necessarily 'preach' against tattoos unless I came across a passage that actually forbids it.
