My brothers in Christ I need your assistance. I have been asked to participate on Monday 7/24/06 in an"open forum" where the discussion is "Do Miracles Yet Exist". When inquiring as to what this means and what is expected of me,I was informed : "We are going to discuss whether or not miracles are yet being done by God in today's dispensation. We have asked Pastor Powell to give the negative point of view-i.e. God no longer does miracles. We want you to present the positive point of view. That is to prove scriptural and by testimony -whether yours or others- that miracles are yet extant in today's church." I need your help in the selection of scriptures for this task-should I accept it. Are there any scriptures that can honestly be used to effectively prove that "miracles are yet extant in today's church"? If not, what does one do in such a situation? I will not seek to prove anything by opinion and superstition based on "tradition" neither will I attempt to put forward as truth anything scripture doesn't support. I,therefore, ask your assistance in presenting a scripture based answer to this question.I want only to present what God has to say about miracles. I am not seeking to please those in attendance. I desire to give a better understanding of the word of God in this area. Whether it is yea or nay. Thank you, Pastor Ed P. S. On August 18 it will have been eight years since I was diagnosed with bone cancer and given six months to live. This is the result of three different hospitals and doctors diagnosis. I call my family together and told them of my pending death. I arranged for my final serviced by contacting a pastor friend and explaining to him what he was to do in conducting my burial service. [One of the persons receiving this letter is my 2nd son who can verify all that I am sharing with you.] Later that night I prayed to The Lord. I wept and prayed. I reminded Our Lord that He gave Hezekiah 15 More years of life. I asked for the same. I know only that I am yet alive! Those very same 3 doctors and departments of oncology are now perplexed because they can find no cancer. Am I a miracle? I don't know I only know that GOD HAS HEALED ME! And I praise and thank Him for it. This truth is known by the group that requested my participation in their forum. Still I want scripture to support anything I present.
