Steve, I don't think Mike is saying the sinner will be unable to sin as much
as he is saying the sinner will be prevented from sinning and if/when he
sins, those sins are dealt with immediately, severely, with a rod of iron.
Hope I'm not just putting words in Mike's mouth, so to speak, that he isn't
saying here. That is how I took what he was saying. Did I get it right
Mike, or were you saying something else?

a teetotaler???)
Oops sorry I misunderstood the phrase "born with the nature of Adam, in
his image" as being when he was created and not after the fall - my
bad. yet the problem remains that you have a sinner who is unable to
sin - this is impossible. A sinner, by nature sins - even in his/her
breathing and living because they do not do it for the glory of God.
Even the good deeds and "obedience" of a sinner are as filthy rags to
God. As someone has already pointed out - with a sin nature we do not
need satan to sin - we are drawn into temptation and sin by our own
lusts and desires. To me this whole line of thinking (Christ reigning
that brings only an outward appearance of peace so the lion lays down
with the lamb yet is salivating because he wants to eat the lamb or a
muslim will sit down with a Jew in an appearance of peace but inwardly
wants to destroy him) this all does a great injustice to the atonement
and what Christ accomplished. It is offering salvation (resisting the
temptation to be deceived by Satan at the "loosing") through some other
means rather than Christ's once for all shed blood. But of course this
is the key problem of dispensationalism in the first place, isn't it ---
The shed blood of Christ has never been the only way to salvation
throughout every age .... so if there was a different way before Christ
then it shouldn't be surprising that there is a different way after
Christ. Troubles abound when we drop below the biblical text and put
too much emphasis on those in some places helpful but uninspired notes
at the bottom of the page.
