An even simpler explanation of the status of the world today:  sin.

Really, Jeff.  The Englishman, the American, the Chinese, the
Japanese, the Israeli, and the Palestinian -- they are all sinners in
need of redemption.  What do we gain by xenophobic jokes at their
behalf?
