jeff,

to take a like from pastor hughes - "jesus 101" :)

the name "jesus" is niether greek nor hebrew - keep in
mind that the letter "j" is in neither alphabet - his
real name is "iesous" in the greek and "iehoshua" in
the hebrew - and because he was hebrew i think most of
his home boys called him "iehoshua" - and in english
it is "joshua" - the name "jesus" is the english
translation for the greek of his name - which actually
still sounds more like "joshua" then it is to "jesus"
- the use of the name "jesus" came to be when the
scripture was bring translated into greek from the
original autograph :)

jesus "real" name was most likely - "iehoshua ben
yoseph" - or in english - "joshua son of joseph"

pax
