If the versions do not all say the same thing; if they are not alike; if
they are different; which one, pray tell, is the Word of God? If I can't
trust one, then I can't trust what any of them say about salvation, the
Savior, heaven, hell, eternal life, etc. If God has promised to preserve
His Word, where is it? If it's in a multitude of versions and the increase
in number it seems with each passing day, there is confusion and not
clarity. Since God isn't the Author of confusion, there is only one
conclusion I can draw. (my opinion and each will have one) I'll trust the
older and not keep looking for something new as I know it has been tried and
true. I reject the versions of Wescott and Hort (every version in the past
150 yrs) as I have read and studies enough of their own writings to see
their unbelief. If someone wants to use a new version (other than teachers
and leaders in my church) then that's their business and something for they
will give their own account. I believe these "modern versions" are
seriously flawed doctrinally and I'll continue to preach from and hold up as
the Word of God, the KJV. Why do folks always want something different
anyway? The old timers who could barely read, could read and understand the
KJV. Why can't modern intellectuals?

Jerry,
I think we all agree with your assessment and desire but some of this
willful ignorance needs to be called out.
I have known too many KJV only guys who have done a lot of harm to the
cause of Christ over this one issue alone
instead of, as you say, preaching what the real matter is - Jesus Christ
and Him crucified - II Cor. 5:21.
There are people in my church that if I were to merely question the KJV
to the smallest degree even if in honesty
see if it is truly "perfect" they would adamantly resist me, reject me
as a believer, condemn me openly, slander me
and leave the church without even going through an honest study, debate,
conference, read a book, etc... That is the
kind of approach we are trying to get rid of. Because, if we do it with
the Bible we will do it in all other areas.
What we have then is nothing more than ignorance. "My preacher said,
etc...."
Blind leaders of the Blind - Jesus condemned it.
Hmmmm, maybe scholarsville is not such a bad place. I for one want more
knowledge, experience, and wisdom.
