Jeff,
If I understand you, and maybe I am missing s/t in the electric
transmission, but you are still putting down education.
Someone could take your stand, and I have seen many, and insist that any
education is "avoiding the Holy Spirit".
Granted many are too educated for their own good, but far too many more
and so undereducated they are reveling in their
Ignorance and do more harm to the Gospel than they do good. "Zeal
without KNOWLEDGE"!

No, they were talking about where the were 'being hired' and discussing
their pay
package.
I do believe strongly what Paul was teaching in I Cor. 9 about pay the
pastors, and NO
DR. DAVE I am not call pastors an ox. I Cor. 9:9

improve our understanding. If we didn't "question everything" we would
still be under the influence of the proponents the Law Paul wrote to in
the book of
Galatians. Or we would subscribe to Docetism, or other errant
theological concepts that although many who were proponents initially
were not intentionally wrong they were simple trying to understand the
deep things of God. Quite honestly, we should thank many of them
because they made the
mistakes we would have made! I am a better preacher because of the
mistakes of others. I would rather learn from them than follow them
because I am afraid to better understand my God and His word!

Many times folks takes the Scholars word over the place of the Holy
Spirit.
The Scholars are always correcting the Word of God and changing the Word
of God.
I believe Sam Jones said something like -- I rather be in heaven saying
my ABC's then
in Hell reading greek.
oh but Sam Jones didn't go to Seminary.
