"have" authority or "usurp" authority ???

There is nothing wrong with a woman having authority, if it is delegated to
her.  Does the nursery director have any authority in your church?

To "usurp" authority is to take authority that is not legitimate.

The pastor is the authority of the church, under the Chief Shepherd, the
Lord Jesus.
