Everything we do for Christ is voluntary. It's called positive volition. I voluntarily am obedient to Christ commands or I am not, which is called negative volition. I cannot pick and chose which area I want to be obedient in though. If I am disobedient in tithing, and obedient in all other areas, I am still a disobedient servant, and I have a negative volition toward my Saviors will. Jesus said, "If you love me keep my commandments. I believe to keep his commandments means all of them. I know Jesus did not say, Thou Shall Tithe" yet I, like others, believe it to be a requirement of obedience. Besides only God could come up with a plan to finance His kingdom work and everyone who tithed had an equal part. The who makes $10 and gives $1 is giving equal to that person who make $1,000 and gives $100. I tithe out of necessity to be obedient to Christ, but also because I want to. Tithing also helps us to keep things in right priority. If I tithe willingly, out of an obedinent heart, then I am saying God you are first place in my life, I will not allow mammon to be my master.
