The Rapture & Jewish Weddings

Middle East Powder Keg

Hi All:

First, let me say "WOW" to your response to help Bob Lally and his
family. Donations continue to pour into the ministry, and we've been able
to bless Bob and his family in a BIG way. We have had responses from as
far away as Australia, Africa, parts of Europe, Canada, and all over the U.S.

Thanks to those of you who have given...and we are still accepting
donations if you haven't had a chance to respond to this need. Bob and his
family have been overwhelmed with the responses so far...and we're getting
close to meeting the full financial need...so keep those cards and dollars

Many of you have also included a gift to the ministry to help offset the
costs of operating and maintaining the website. For that, we say a
heartfelt thank you. Your obedience to the Lord helps us keep
Prophezine.com on the Internet and reaching into countries around the globe.

Oh...we continue to work on getting the audio files back online. We get a
lot of requests for this, and we are working on making some equipment
changes so this can be in operation again soon. Thanks for asking...and
your patience as we continue to work on this.

Regarding this issue, I have had several inquires from new subscribers
asking some basic questions about prophecy, so this issue is devoted to a
"back to basics" outline of prophecy. Thanks to Cornerstone Church for
providing some basic answers to commonly asked questions about prophecy.

Also published is an interesting comparison between the Jewish wedding and
the rapture (from a pre-tribulation perspective) and a guest commentary by
Bill Koenig on Middle East events.

Be blessed, and thanks for your support of PZ. Share our site with a
friend and encourage them to subscribe to our newsletters. Also, if you
have ideas for an upcoming issue or come across a good prophecy related
article, please feel free to share them with us.

I hope you enjoy this issue of PZ.

Different Views on Prophecy

Because prophecy covers so many verses in the Bible, it is not surprising
that many Christians interpret Scriptures differently. Listed below are
different views that people hold concerning end-times prophecy.

1. Preterist View: This view of prophecy sees the book of Revelation as
fulfilled in the 1st Christian century.
2. Amillennial View: Teaches that the book of Revelation is symbolic of a
present spiritual conflict. The Second Coming of Christ will immediately
usher in the final judgment and eternity. This view doesn't believe there
will be a final 7-year tribulation, an Antichrist, or a millennium.
Amillennial means "No millennium."
3. Premillennial View: Teaches that Jesus will return to earth and then
will establish a literal 1,000 year reign upon the earth. Jesus will rule
over the earth from Jerusalem. Within this view are 3 variations.
   a) Premillennial, Post-tribulation view: Teaches the rapture and Second
Coming are the same event. The rapture occurs at the Second Coming of
Christ at the end of the 7-year Tribulation.
   b) Premillennial, Pre-wrath view: Teaches the rapture and the Second
Coming are separate events. The rapture occurs sometime during the 7-year
Tribulation, before God pours out His wrath upon the earth, but not at the
Second Coming.
   c) Premillennial, Pre-tribulation view: Teaches the rapture and Second
Coming are separate events. The rapture happens before the 7-year
Tribulation begins. This website holds to this view of prophecy.

Although Christians may disagree concerning their views on prophecy, this
should not be a cause of division in the Church. Christians should "agree
to disagree" on differing prophetic viewpoints because our fellowship is in
Jesus Christ, not in a particular view of prophecy.

The Rapture & Jewish Weddings

There is an interesting parallel between a Jewish wedding and the Rapture.
Only a Pre-Tribulation Rapture will fit into this scenario.

Jewish Wedding & The Rapture

There were three groups of people present at every Jewish wedding: the
groom, the bride, and the invited guests. There will also be three groups
of people involved in the marriage of the Lamb.
   1. The Groom. This is Jesus (2 Cor. 11:2, Eph. 5:23-27)
   2. The Bride. This is the Church (2 Cor. 11:2, Eph. 5:22-32, Rev. 21:9-10)
   3. The Guests. Those saved after the Rapture (Matt. 25:1-10). Some
people have mistakenly interpreted the 10 virgins as the Church. But these
are the guests invited to the wedding feast. They are not the bride.

Three Aspects of a Jewish Wedding

There were also 3 aspects of every Jewish wedding. The same is true with
the marriage of the Lamb.
   1. The Wedding Contract (Betrothal). This is when a person is saved (2
Cor. 11:2).
   2. The Wedding Ceremony (Groom receives Bride). This is the Rapture
(John 14:2-3). Rev. 19:7 literally reads, "The marriage of the Lamb came
and His wife prepared herself." The wedding already occurred in heaven at
the Rapture, and now the Lamb and the Church are about to return to earth
for the wedding feast. This parallels what Jesus said in Luke 12:36, "And
be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the
wedding…" (It should read wedding, not "wedding feast." Why would someone
wait after the wedding feast when the celebration is over?)
   3. The Wedding Feast (Guests are invited the celebration). This is the
Second Coming (Matt. 25:1-10) "Blessed are those who are invited to the
marriage supper of the Lamb" (Rev. 19:9)--A bride is not invited to her own
wedding! The Church was married to Christ at the Rapture and the wedding
feast will occur on earth after the Second Coming. Those people saved after
the Rapture will be invited to participate in the wedding feast.

And here's one more thought to ponder…

Three Times of Redemption

"Redemption" means "to purchase." When a person receives Jesus Christ as
Lord and Savior, his or her spirit is redeemed at that time. At the
Rapture, the person's body will be redeemed through resurrection. At the
Second Coming, Jesus will return to the Mount of Olives to redeem the
earth. The earth has been under a curse since the fall of Adam & Eve, and
Jesus will lift the curse when He sets up His kingdom on earth.
   1. At the time of salvation, Jesus redeemed your spirit. (1 Pet. 1:18,
Eph. 1:7)
   2. At the Rapture, Jesus will redeem your body. (Rom. 8:23, Eph. 1:14,
   3. At the Second Coming, Jesus will redeem the earth. (Rom. 8:19-22) At
this time, the curse which was placed on it because of the fall of man
(Gen. 3:17-19) will be lifted (Zech. 14:11).

Middle East Powder Keg
A Commentary By: Bill Koenig http://watch.org
(Editor's Note: Bill has his heart on the pulse of Washington and offers
some interesting insights into World events from a prophetic view.)

August 8, 2002
We appear to be nearing a Middle East war, which will likely have the US
and Iraq involved, with the possibility of having Israel, Syria, and Iran
included in the mix, and with an outside chance of seeing Saudi Arabia and
Egypt involved.

As we continue to hear the war rhetoric, the US government policy
pertaining to the Middle East continues to demonstrate doublemindedness,
with its two sides exposed as it did again this week. The State Department
and the Defense Department had opposing views, with the Bush team leaning
in both directions. The following is an example:

In a Tuesday, August 6th, Washington Post article, reporting on a briefing
given last month to a top Pentagon advisory board, Saudi Arabia was
described as an enemy of the United States. Further, the recommendation was
made that US officials give the Saudis an ultimatum to stop backing
terrorism or face seizure of its oil fields and its financial assets
invested in the United States.

"The Saudis are active at every level of the terror chain, from planners to
financiers, from cadre to foot-soldier, from ideologist to cheerleader,"
stated the explosive briefing. It was presented on July 10 to the Defense
Policy Board, a group of prominent intellectuals and former senior
officials that advises the Pentagon on defense policy.

"Saudi Arabia supports our enemies and attacks our allies," said the
briefing prepared by Laurent Murawiec, a Rand Corp. analyst.

In response, and as stated in a British Financial Times article Tuesday,
Colin Powell, US secretary of state, contacted his Saudi counterpart to
assure him that the US did not view Saudi Arabia as its new enemy.

He made the call after Donald Rumsfeld, US secretary of defence, confirmed
reports of a Rand Corporation briefing of the Defense Policy Board last
month in which Saudi Arabia was characterized as America's "most dangerous

Mr Rumsfeld said the report did not reflect the views of the US government.
However, he did little to express support for Washington's traditional ally.

Then on Tuesday the Chicago Tribune laid bare the sharp, behind-the-scenes
disagreements that have shaped the Bush administration's Middle East
policy, stating that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld sided strongly with
Israel on Tuesday, asserting Jewish state’s right to continue holding
captured Arab lands.

Rumsfeld referred to the lands Israel seized in the 1967 Middle East War as
"so-called occupied territories" and questioned whether Israel was
obligated to cease building settlements on them.
"My feelings about the so-called occupied territories are that there was a
war . . . and [Egypt, Jordan and Syria] lost a lot of real estate to
Israel, because Israel prevailed in that conflict," Rumsfeld told Pentagon
employees during a question-and-answer session.

"In the intervening period, they've made some settlements in various parts
of the so-called occupied area, which was the result of a war, which they
won," he said.

It was stated in a Jerusalem Post article that the Bush administration,
playing down remarks made by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, made clear
Wednesday that it still regards the West Bank and Gaza Strip as territories
"occupied" by Israel.

The clarification came after Rumsfeld said Tuesday that the "so-called
occupied territories" were captured by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war
after neighboring countries, despite warnings, "got involved and lost a lot
of real estate."

Rumsfeld also said that it would be difficult for Israel to transfer
territory to the Palestinian Authority, which has been "involved in
terrorist activities."

Daniel Kurtzer, the US ambassador to Israel, said yesterday that Rumsfeld
was speaking only for himself and that his remarks did not signal a change
in US policy.

"Secretary Rumsfeld made clear in what was a town meeting for Defense
Department employees that he was speaking personally. He also made clear
that the policy on this issue is made by President Bush. I think the
president's June 24 speech speaks for itself and the secretary fully agrees
with that," Kurtzer told Israel Television.

On the war front:

Saudis stated this week they will not allow the U.S. to use their airfields
in the war against Iraq.
The Palestinians are being used as a catalyst by Iraq, in an effort to
produce a swift Israel response designed to initiate scud and katyusha
missile launches from Iraq and Lebanon. Israel, as reported last week, has
warned Syria three times -- twice through the U.S. and once through
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarek -- reign in the Hezbullah or they] will be
taken out of commission.

The Iraqi and U.S. war rhetoric continues. There is great concern in the
Middle East that if Saddam Hussein is taken out that it will destabilize
the Middle East. Many believe with him in place there is more order.
Ironically, the U.S. envisions Iraq as a major oil producer to the world
and eventually as a means of our relying less on Saudia Arabia. Now, that
is a strange twist! The thinking is based on the fact that an estimated 35%
of Iraq is fundamentalist Muslims, while Saudia Arabia has an estimated 80
to 90% fundamentalist Muslims.

Additionally, the Middle East countries, the former Desert Storm ally base,
are calling for the United States to not go to war with Iraq. There are
many nations, too, who are calling on the U.S. to not go to war against
Saddam Hussein.

On the Syria front, according to a Ha’aretz article, Syria, current
president of the UN Security Council, is violating the UN arms embargo on
Iraq by sending weapons and military equipment delivered to Syrian ports on
to Iraq via trucks and rail. Most, but not all, of the supplies come from
East European countries. Among other things, Russian-made jet engines,
refurbished Russian tank engines and Czech anti-aircraft cannon are being
delivered to Iraq via this route.

Europe remains concerned about a massive Middle East war and the impact it
could have on the flow of oil and the subsequent harm to their economies.
Isn’t it an irony that their years of pro-Arab, pro-land-for-peace policies
are coming back to haunt them?

The U.S. continues to maneuver people into place for a war with Iraq. The
troops will be able to strike with quick notice. The most likely war dates
are after the U.S. election in November with January and February 2003 the
most likely. However, things could change quickly.

There are concerns that the U.S. troops in the region surrounding Iraq
could be the target of weapons of mass destruction. There are also concerns
for Israel. It is very probable the U.S. and Israel could go at this
together; how they will cooperate remains to be seen.

In summary, we are so blessed to have Jesus Christ in our lives and to have
front-row seats as we watch the Lord’s prophetic fulfillment play out as
stated in the Bible.
