Here's another nice little board game. The object of the game is to
remove as many marbles as possible from the board. It's easy to learn
but hard to solve. This game is a shareware product.
16 Marbles v1.0 requires a Macintosh with about 1 Megabyte of free RAM
and System 7 or better. This game is a FAT binary, so it should work on
both PowerMacs and on some older Macs.

This game is a 3D version of the classic break-out game. It requires Color
Quickdraw and a 68020 processor. Originally released in the early 1990's,
it was designed to run well on old Macs such as the LC II and IIci, though
it runs fine on new models such as the iMac.
This release removes shareware notices, making it a freeware game.
Replaces earlier versions, such as 3dBrick.* and 3dBrickBash1.3.1.sit.hqx.
O.K. to include on Info-Mac CD archives.

Date: Dec 04, 1998
From: csrstka@earthlink.net
Subject: bolo-map-4-isles-of-doom
4 Isles of Doom is my favorite map of those that I have made. I have
uploaded one other map, Island of Imperialism, to the archive, but this is
probably the better of the two. I made some other maps, but I didn't think
them worth uploading to the archive. I actually made the map a few years
ago, but don't seem to have uploaded it, so I am doing so now.
The map consists of four islands. The two larger islands in the northwest
and east are reasonably forested, while the central and southwestern
islands have no trees at all, making it necessary to import trees from the
larger two islands.
The northwest island is the largest and probably the most valuable island
of the four. It has lots of forest, which makes many of the bases open to
sneak attacks. It has several bases and pills scattered throughout it, but
the best spot is in the northwest corner, where there are four bases and
four pills. However, this little fortress is surrounded by a river and
plenty of swampland, which will make it a little difficult to overtake.
However, once you own this base, you will find it quite defendable. The
eastern island is rather large but consists of mostly forest, although
there are a few bases and pills. There's a nice little island in the center
of the map that contains two bases. It is fairly open to invasion because
its location in the center of the map makes it rather accessible, and may
be on the front lines. However, it's defended by shallow water, which
causes spiking to take a little extra effort if you put some pills on it.
By the time your enemy gets onto the island, (s)he will be well within the
range of your pills. The southwest island is really just a large maze with
several bases and pills. It could be a nice fortress, but it doesn't have
any trees, so you need to import them from somewhere else in order to build
defenses. I usually leave this island alone until I am able to make myself
established on the northwestern or eastern islands, but you may find it
useful.
Island of Imperialism
Island of Imperialism is my first really playable map. I made one other, 4
Isles of Doom, which is probably better than this one. However, I still
think that this one is okay. I made lots of other maps as well, but most
were not worth uploading here, so only these two will be uploaded. I
actually made this map a few years ago, but it seems I never uploaded it to
the archive, so I will do so now.
The idea for the island was partially inspired by Everard Island and
partially by Boulley's Bolo Maps, which I liked and which can probably
still be found on the info-mac archive. The island's shape is pretty
generic, about the size of Everard but more rounded. The map is rather
heavily forested, especially in the southeastern parts of the map. There is
one really good base area in the southeastern corner of the map that
contains four bases and four pills, as well as a few more pills not far
away. You will probably want to try taking this base. If you take it, it
makes an excellent refuelling spot, but it is a bit difficult to take out
and the forests around it make it a bit prone to sneak attacks. There's
also a reasonably good base on a small island just north center of the map
that has two bases and four pills; being surrounded on three sides by water
and separated from the main island on the southern side by a small channel,
it is harder to attack, if a bit out of the way. If you can get this base,
it should be easier to defend than the other bases. However, there aren't
really many trees near it, which can be a problem when fixing pills and
building defenses. However, this means it's also harder for enemies to
sneak up on the base through the forest.

Disclaimer
______________________________________
This is an UNOFFICIAL patch for The 7th Guest . I am not an employee of
Virgin Games nor do
they have any idea that I have created this patch. This application has not
been tested
extensively and may have bugs or cause problems with The 7th Guest .
However, given that
The 7th Guest already has serious problems with Power Macintoshes, and
given that I havent
experienced any problems myself while playing a patched version of the game
on my Power
Macintosh, I dont believe there is any serious risk with using this
software.
______________________________________
What it does
______________________________________
This application fixes a Power Macintosh incompatibility with Virgin Games
The 7th Guest .
This fixes a random crashing problem which occurs while playing the game on
Power Macintosh
computers (ie - PowerMac 6100, 7100, or 8100). This crash is caused by a
bug in the part of the
games code which controls the mouse/cursor in the game and that bug is fixed
by this patch.
______________________________________
How to use it
______________________________________
You must have already installed The 7th Guest on your Macintosh before you
can use this
application to patch your game. This application can only patch the copy of
The 7th Guest
which is installed on your hard drive -- it can not patch the copy on the
CD-ROM (CD-ROMs cant
be modified).
Before using this application, make sure that any virus protection software
that you are running
is turned off. This application modifies the code in your 7th Guest
application and therefore
could be mistaken for a virus by some detection software.
To patch your game, do the following:
Open the patcher application (it is named 7th Guest PPC Patch ). You will
see a standard open
file dialog when the application starts up.
Find your copy of T7GMac on your hard disk and select it. T7GMac is the
application that you
open when you want to play The 7th Guest . If you have renamed this
application, select the
renamed copy.
Click the Open button. If you double-clicked T7GMac when you selected
it, you wont need to
do this step.
Thats it! Assuming that everything went OK, you should see an alert
informing you that the
patch was successful.
If you ever re-install The 7th Guest , you will also need to re-apply this
patch.
Enjoy the game!

This Mac application puts a pool table on your screen and lets you shoot the
balls down the pockets.
Unlike other pool table applications, you can set the table and balls to any
size you wish. There are hundreds of settings available for speed and
friction. The Aim Assist feature shows you which direction and how far the
cue ball will go when you shoot. Shot Status information is provided, like
a referee, to show whose turn it is, whether they've made a legal shot,
whether a player has won the game, etc., according to rules for either 8Ball

To see what sets 8-Ball Emulator apart from the rest, try minimum ball size

Subject: Another Fine Mess 1.8
Another Fine Mess is an adventure game for Mac OS. The tangled worlds of
Ray's Maze await you. Seek your fortune or die trying! Visit eerie moors,
a desolate battlefield, and an ancient castle. Battle bureaucrats, sand
pirates, and other horrific monsters. Challenging puzzles and fantastic
treasures abound. Another Fine Mess is multi-layered, with plots and
sub-plots, and puzzles inside of puzzles. But it is also non-linear--that
is, you don't have to finish one area before moving on to the next. Like
real life, you can move freely, discovering as you go. The initial plot
is simple: You are searching for treasure. But as you move through the
worlds of the Maze, you will become involved in a number of more complex
storylines.
This is the second game in the Ray's Maze series. The game features
excellent graphics with multiple story lines. The game was created with
the World Builder adventure game creation system.
The author asks a $10 shareware fee. For more information, e-mail
RayDunakin@aol.com.
The game runs on all Macs, but sound doesn't work on XL, AV, or PPC
models. It may be necessary to increase the Preferred Memory Size on
newer Macs if the game freezes when opened. To increase memory, just
single click on the Another Fine Mess icon, then select Get Info from the
File menu. Version 1.8 fixes several minor bugs, adds some new hints, and
is slightly less deadly.

In the previous uploaded version(1.40b), there is a serious bug which

Some major changes and bug fixs since version 1.40 are
1. Fix a bug which causes Al Bunny fails to open if the user close
Al Bunny last time with speed mode set to "user-defined"
2. Fix a bug in the pre-defined keysets. Now the non-US keyboard
user will feel that these keysets make more senses. For example,
in level 2 in German keyboard, the user practice 'z' instead of 'y'.
3. Fix a mistake in US-Dvorak keyboard layout file.
4. A change in Racing-Game. Now the obstacle will be moved up after
the user enters the string correctly.
Thank you very much.

Subject: A Mess O' Trouble 1.8
"...if a detailed, nonlinear plot, plenty of puzzles to solve and strange
worlds to explore are what counts with you, you're in luck, because
Trouble provides that -- at a rock bottom price. Everything from the
graphics to the gameplay to the written descriptions of the rooms is of
professional quality."
-- Mac Home Journal, October 1994
A Mess O'Trouble is a multi-layered, richly-textured graphic adventure
game that will keep you entertained for days or even weeks. (And you
don't have to know anything about the first game to play this one.)
A Mess O'Trouble keeps violence to a minimum, without being boring,
insipid or "politically correct". Even when defeating the most
villianous creatures you will use your brain more than your gun.
A Mess O'Trouble takes place in the twisted worlds of Ray's Maze, a
multi-dimensional spacial anomaly. Explore old mines and search for lost
gold in an authentic Nevada ghost town. Learn the secrets of Techtron
artifacts in the Void. Escape from the mysterious Isle of Lucy. Battle
bureaucratic bungling in Monolith City, and discover the weirdness and
wonders of the Enchanted Forest.
The result of over 1000 hours of work, this game includes 137 sounds, 300
scenes, dozens of characters, more than 1400 objects, and some of the
best black & white graphics you've ever seen. All this AND plenty of wit
and humor too!
A Mess O' Trouble should run on any Mac OS computer running System 3 or
higher. Sounds may not work on the Macintosh XL or any AV or PowerPC Mac.
Version 1.8 fixes a major bug that prevented the game from being
completed when playing as Dawn.
The author is Ray Dunakin (raydunakin@aol.com), and he asks for a $10
shareware fee if you like and keep the game.

The ANIMATE XCMD provides a simple way of adding flicker-free graphic
animations to a HyperCard stack. You can animate any size picture over

same methods for animation used in today's computer games.
The stack includes several demonstrations of the XCMD in action. The

The ANIMATE XCMD was created using HeizerSoftware's CompileIt! 2.6.1.
The stack and XCMD are not free. If you use the XCMD in any of your

will allow you to include the XCMD in as many stacks as you like, and
you will receive a copy of the updated versions. If you wish to use this
XCMD in commercial stacks, $10 will allow you unlimited use. This stack
and the ANIMATE XCMD are both shareware. You may freely distributed

Subject: Apeiron 1.0.2
Apeiron is the latest contribution from Ambrosia's resident Macintosh
wizard, Andrew Welch, to Ambrosia's growing entertainment collection. In a
four Apple review, Mac Home Journal says: "...if you like fast paced arcade
action, you're going to want this."
During a port through the looking glass, the mirror shatters and your
ethereal energy (you know, the stuff that allows you to get up and go to
work on a Monday morning...) is trapped within one of the crystal shards.
Immediately, the residents of the mushroom patch sense your presence. Lead
by the Pentipede, this motley crew of mushroom patch misfits relentlessly
hunt the crystal ( You! ), intent upon sucking out the trapped energy. The
Pentipede is a sinister creature that has the ability to divide. So, if you
think your troubles are over when you shoot this sneakered psycho once, you
are twice as wrong.
The Pentipede is joined by a ruthless assortment of animated killers, and
your situation is further complicated by a few unpleasant "environmental"
hazards.
Luckily you are not defenseless; with plasma cannon blazing, you must hold
out as long as possible. Shooting certain mushrooms can be very beneficial
to your mission. Several power up coins are scattered throughout the
garden. Find one of these and you can teach the Pentipede and his pals the
meaning of "full auto."
Inside Mac Games sums it up by saying "Apeiron's astounding graphics and
sound coupled with its captivating gameplay make it a joy to play and a
worthy successor to a classic such as Maelstrom."
The following is a list of the bugs that were fixed in Apeiron 1.0.2:
-- Finally fixed the nasty sprinkly shield bug (happened only when you
were attacking 'pedes that were poisoned, en-mass)
-- Fixed an odd bug with Mode32 and some other configurations that
cause the 'pedes to misbehave
-- Fixed a bug that caused Apeiron to not work properly on the newer
PowerMacs running System 7.5.2
-- Updated the contact information
-- Included the "Apeiron FAQ" and "Ambrosia FAQ" with Apeiron
-- Added a "Paused" graphic when the game is paused with the Caps Lock key
-- Included the new Ambrosia registration system

Subject: Apple Easter Eggs 1.4
What secrets lurk inside the heart of your Mac? Are you too frightened to
look? I didn't think so.
Grab this self-viewing DocMaker file to discover what those zany Apple
engineers and programmers have hidden inside your Macintosh and Newton. You
may be amazed!
Welcome to the first Easter release of the world's largest collection of
Apple easter eggs. In fact, there are over 200 of them! This is a
compilation of secrets stuffed inside of your Macintosh or Newton by Apple
programmers and engineers, which are not accessible without doing something
that you wouldn't normally do. Easter eggs include random jokes, elaborate
credit screens, or hard-to-find games that are meant to give the creator a
little fame, also adding a personal touch to the best computer on earth.
For Example: One well known easter egg is if you type "secret about box", in
System 7.5, in Stickies and drag it to the desktop. You will be able to play
a game, or you can see and move a virtual flag on the new PCI Macs in System
7.5.2 & 7.5.3. Download this file for more info.
All eggs only apply to Apple Computer made products so any Mac or Newton
owner can try them without having to deal with other software. This file has
been mentioned in MacWorld Magazine, put on CD's, mentioned in books and
E-Zines, was a most popular download on AOL, and is a top download at many
other software sights.
The upgrade: Version 1.4 has all of the eggs in previous versions and plenty
more. I did not have a main focus for this release but there are many
excellent and detailed additions, and even a peek at the first Copland easter
egg. I also fixed spelling, made many corrections, and added roughly 50 more
eggs to the collection. Also, with the release of DocMaker 4.6, there is a
much better interface and I cleaned things up a bit. There are so many
changes I can not list them all. Download this file, look around, and have
fun!
Made with DocMaker, which means it is stand-alone. It requires no other
helper applications but a decompressor. A Newton only list of easter eggs is
also available for all PC owners.

Subject: Air Traffic Controller ATC v3.0
Take control of the airways around the major UK international airports
and direct planes into and out of conjested airspace. This simulator is
built upon the actual UK air corridors and the pressure mounts as the
time ticks by with more and more planes appearing in your sector.
Routing information is provided for all flights using actual waypoints.
Version 3 includes 2 major improvements - stacks and pilot messages.
Inbound aircraft can now be directed to stacks near the airports when the
sky is getting congested. The planes circle the stack until you are
ready to bring them on the final approach. The pilot messages help in
identifying those planes passing the waypoints and hence that need
directing to the next waypoint on their required route.

African Stone game
The Awale is one of the most ancient games still played.
The Masai say that the Awale was invented by Sindillo, the son of the
first man, Maitoumbe, and was originally called geshe. The rules of
the game are simple, but the strategies needed to win are quite
challenging. With Awale, you'll play against the computer or another
player to one of the 13 pre-defined rules from all over the world
(from India to Barbados).
The object of the game is to capture more stones than your opponent.
To help you learn and play the game, a dialog box appears with
comments on the actions performed. You can: define your own rules,
undo the last move, see the history list of all played holes in the
game (allowing you to restart a game at any point to find another
strategy), and more. Awale also features: excellent graphics and sound
effects, scoring, online help, game save, a powerful A.I. algorithm,
user-definable Grand Master level, and an English and French version.
African-style musics and sound effects are also included.
A very realistic game, with solid wood and clattering stones.
New in this version :
You can challenge an opponent on the Internet, or view 'live' the game
played by other players on the Internet, send and receive messages.

o The dealer will ask you for insurance, instead of just indicating
that you can take insurance.
o More denominations of chips: 1, 5, 25, 100, 500, 2000 & 5000.
o After a split, both hands are visible, and each hand is paid off
accordingly!
o Excellent sounds! (and ability to turn on/off certain sounds)
o Ability to switch tables!
o 52 Digitized cards ( touched up a bit since the last version )
o Default buttons.
o You get paid off in CHIPS, just like in the casinos!
o SURRENDER is available in this version too!
o Correct handling of undiscovered blackjack.
o There is now a LOSE indicator.
In addition to many other graphic improvements. Check it out yourself, and
I think you'll agree that this game is truly AWESOME!

Subject: ABSTRACT for A_Z_CustomFolders
Hello Fellow Mac Enthusiasts,
And thank you for downloading A thru Z Custom Folders.
As simple as these folders appear they lend a lot of valuable things that
are not immediantely noticable like:
1.) Use them to dress up your Desktop, A- for aliases, D for documents T-
for trash, and so on. The trash icon takes something a ittle more complex to
use a folder rather than the can icon, see SPECIAL NOTE at the bottom of
this read me for how to accomplish it.
2.) Add different colors to folders to add accent and differenciate folders
that may have the same letter: ie Documents, Dates and Aliases and Accounts
and so on. Use the colors in the folders by HIGHLIGHTING the folder of your
choice, then select GET INFO (Cmd./i) and inside the GET INFO window select
LABLE and choose your COLOR.
3.) Folders with BIG easy to SEE letters actually save time. It is easier to
visuialize an 'A' before reading the word Aliases. Its a mind games thing.
You will overtime become to associate COLORS with ACTIONS. Most used with
RED and GREEN etc.
Should you ever LOSE the LAST copy of any folder for ANY reason, (like the
Zippo lighter commercial says) we will send you a complete set at NO CHARGE
! (To any registered user)
Thanks for your interest in our products.

Backgammon Lite is a FREEWARE program that allows you to play backgammon on
your macintosh computer. There is no computer opponent so the game requires
two players. You will also need your own pair of dice and a set of rules
that you can easily obtain on the internet. This program merely replaces the
clutter of the board and the pieces. Part of the experience of playing the
game is having to roll the dice and if I had added a dice feature to the
game I feel that I would have taken something away from your experience with
playing backgammon.

If you can watch T-V directly on your Macintosh, this small program is for you. Normally, the image that can be used with Apple Video Player to get the best quality do not cover the whole screen, so the icons still can be seen in the background, which is distracting.
A fine solution is Background Hider, a small program which do not take a lot of memory. It can be used also for games or anything when you want to cover the desktop in black.

Subject: BackSlide 1.2, a Java puzzle with a twist
BackSlide 1.2
BackSlide is a Java implementation of a puzzle by Christian Freeling. Obviously
the history of BackSlide goes back to the invention of the '15' puzzle, commonly
attributed to Sam Loyd. But it is much nicer than "yet another '15' puzzle".
Viewed on one side, it has 652 different solutions (as opposed to Loyd's 1). 8 of
these are also meta-solutions, that is: both sides of the puzzle are solved
simultaneously. All 652 solutions are included in a separate SlideShow applet,
while 4 meta-solutions are accessible from a pop-up menu. If you find one other
meta-solution, you will get permanent access to _all_. Alternatively, you can
register for US$5 and get full access. Please see ReadMe.html (within the
package) for all the details.
The package contains all the necessary files to play BackSlide off-line. It
requires a Java enabled web browser, for instance Netscape Navigator 3.0 or
Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0. BackSlide should be compatible with Java 1.0
(Netscape 2.0.1/Win95).
BackSlide is US$5 shareware, copyright 1996-97 by MindSports,
http://www.mindsports.net/ You can preview and play BackSlide on-line, or
download the package, from there.
Changes since v1.1: - New site and email addresses (!) - New style (of the
enclosing html pages) - No noticable changes in the Java applets
Have fun,

Backstab 1.0
Copyright Adam Miller 1992
This is an excellent implementation of a board game commonly called Ataxx, an
interesting game which looks easy but is tricky to master. Backstab has color
graphics, animation in black & white and color, digitized sound, well documented
help, a large selection of computer opponents (from the very easy to a level
that IUve never beaten), a large selection of pre-made boards, option for human
vs. human play as well as computer vs. computer, and much more.
But what really makes this implementation unique is its flexible expandability.
With extreme ease people you can create new boards with Resedit or some such
tool, which is fun, but the real challenge is writing your own computer players.
This is fun, challenging, and easy to do in your favorite programming language.
Just build them as a code resource and copy them into the Backstab file. It
will automatically add them to the computer menu, and youUre ready to go.

Subject: Barrack 1.0.3 Installer
Meticulously crafted by Greg Lovette, Barrack is a game that is hard to
pigeonhole. It exhibits a precarious balance between action and strategy;
thinking and reflex. The feeling you get from playing Barrack is an
eccentric harmony between the automatic, mind-numbing pleasure of Tetris
and the kind of action found in Maelstrom. The result is that you'll be
left with sweat on your brow.
Barrack's goal is deceptively simple; there are a number of balls on the
play field that are bouncing like a neurotic on a sugar rush. Your job is
to use your shooter to isolate them. Sounds easy, right?
It isn't. First of all, if a ball breaks your shooter's particle beam
before it tears through the play field, your shooter overloads and
explodes in a cascade of fire and scrap metal.
The second problem is that these aren't any ordinary balls. They have
more personalities than Sybil, and none of them are particularly
friendly. We'll leave the particulars up to your imagination for now, but
suffice it to say that these aren't the kind of balls you get from bubble
gum machines.
Oh, did we forget to mention the land shark? Bosco is a rare breed of
shark capable of rearranging his molecular structure at will. This
enables him to travel at quite a clip through otherwise solid substances.
If you don't pay attention while he closes in on your shooter, you may
end up being fish-bait. He's tenacious, voracious, and about every other
-acious you can think of, all rolled into one lean, mean,
shooter-munchin' machine.
Barrack features stunning artwork, intense action, vibrant 8-channel
stereo sound effects, and the addictiveness that comes standard in an
Ambrosia game.
