Semitic languages, etc posted by Y'shua
on 04/08/2003 at 13:01:13 from IP# 12.88.200.152 Yiddish is not a Semitic language and therefore really has no relationship with Hebrew. Lok up: "Semitic" in a good dictionary as well as the term "Afro-Asiatic." There is no historical, linguistic and cultural relationship between Hebrew and Yiddish.
As the Torah states: Ham, Shem and Japtheth....well Shem is Afro-Asiatic (Afro means African) and Ashkenaz (European) cannot be traced to Shhm...Avram was of SHem...so where is the connection?
Shalom....
