300 Gram(s) Plain flour
25 Gram(s) Caster sugar
3 Teaspoon(s) Baking Powder
1 Pinches salt
110 Gram(s) Slightly salted butter
50 Gram(s) Mild Cheddar cheese, grated
Milk to moisten
4 Eating apples
50 Gram(s) Soft brown sugar, 50 to 80
1/2 Teaspoon(s) Powdered cinnamon
A little melted butter
Sieve the flour, caster sugar, baking powder and salt together into a
bowl. Rub in the butter, then mix the cheese in. Add enough milk to
moisten the mixture and form a soft but not sticky dough. Knead the
dough lightly on a floured board. Pat it out on to an ungreased Swiss
roll tin about 18-25cm. Peel, core and thinly slice the apples and
arrange on the dough. Sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon,
brush with the melted butter and bake for 25 minutes at 220C/425F/gas
