Ingredients:
1/2 Cup(s) Shortening
1 Cup(s) Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Tablespoon(s) Baking soda
2 Tablespoon(s) Sour milk
2 Cup(s) Flour
1 Teaspoon(s) Salt
1 Teaspoon(s) Vanilla
2 Cup(s) Finely chopped apples
1/2 Cup(s) Nutmeats
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. Dissolve baking soda in sour milk.
(1 tbsp. of vinegar plus 2 tsp. milk can be substituted in place of
the sour milk). Add sour milk and baking soda mixture to the creamed
mixture. Then add remaining ingredients and mix together. Put in a
large greased loaf pan and top with the following topping. Mix
together: 2 tbsp. butter 2 tbsp. flour 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp.
