Ingredients:
3 Cup(s) Boiling water
2 Cup(s) Chopped dates
4 Teaspoon(s) Baking soda
3 Tablespoon(s) Butter or margarine
2 3/4 Cup(s) Sugar
3 Eggs
1 Tablespoon(s) Vanilla
2 1/2 Cup(s) Flour
1/2 Cup(s) Chopped walnuts
Directions:
Combine water, dates, and baking soda. Allow to stand 1 hour.
Usingmixer, cream butter until soft. Add sugar and blend for 10
minutes. Addeggs and vanilla and blend for 10 minutes. Mix on low while
addingalternately date mixture and flour. Beat until smooth. Add
walnuts andmix until combined. Divide into 4 greased and floured bread
pans. Bake45-60 minutes. This recipe came from the Historic Dobbin
House Tavern inGettysburg, PA. It is excellent, but you must follow the
